Do you want to get skills, experiences and memories that will be with you for the rest of your life? Apply to the board 2022 no later than 19.11.2021.

Why you should apply to the board

As a member of the Board, you will together with the other Board members and staff, drive Novium's operations forward. We will be a small, close team that brainstorm ideas, come up with fun activities and support each other in the process. During the year you will also:

  • create many new contacts and expand your network on all of Novias’ campuses

  • represent Novium at various events, from various trade fairs to SAMOK's union meeting and other student unions' parties

  • influence your own as well as other students' studies through meetings with staff and the principal, write statements and actively take a stand for the students’ rights

  • learn about board work in theory (board training) and in practice

  • run an organization based on business plan, budget and council decisions, which will give you many new experiences and insights that will be useful to you in your future working life

You will have to be active in the board and participate in the work, but it will be worth it. The staff will help you and guide you through your year as a board member, and also assist in the practical work. In addition to the fact that it looks good on your CV, fees are also paid to the board members.

Tasks of the Board

The main tasks of the board are to lead and manage the student union's activities and implement the council's decisions. The board prepares documentations and matters that are handled by the council, and implements the business plan and budget for the year, which the council has decided on. Other tasks include:

  • appoint committees and their members

  • lead the work of the committees

  • monitor compliance with applicable statutes

  • bring the student union's action before the court and other authorities, and sign agreements

  • appoint student representatives on Novia's board and on other bodies at Novia referred to in the law (yrkeshögskolelagen)

Composition and working methods

The board consists of a chairman and four to eight board members. The Board works closely with Novium's staff and holds approximately two Board meetings per month. Novium's general secretary is the secretary for the meetings.

At the Board's statutory meeting, the Board members decide on areas of responsibility. Each board member is responsible for one area of ​​activity. The board member has its own committee, which helps to plan and realize the activities within the board member's area of ​​responsibility.
