The income limit for students will be raised next year
The government proposes that the income limits will be raised by approximately 25% in 2022, which is good news for you who work alongside your studies. The proposal, which is expected to enter into force immediately at the beginning of next year, will make it easier for students to get their everyday lives together, through improved conditions for young people's employment. However, the joy is short-lived - it is only a matter of a temporary increase for the year 2022, as a response to the hardship young people have been through during the Corona era.
The income limit for a month you get financial student support from Kela is expected to rise from the current EUR 696 to EUR 870 and the income limit for a month without student aid from EUR 2,078 to EUR 2,600. It will thus be easier for you to accept a job, without missing out on student support.
Novium and University of Applied Sciences Students in Finland ,SAMOK, supports the idea, but remains critical to the solution being only temporary. For further reading, see SAMOK’s statement and also the proposal discussion at the government’s website.
